about Summer Shoemaker

Summer Shoemaker is an accomplished hospitality executive with more than two decades of experience leading luxury hotels and resorts in Southern California. She currently serves as General Manager of the San Diego Mission Bay Resort, a 357-room waterfront property, where she oversees daily operations, guest experience, financial performance, and strategic initiatives.

Shoemaker began her hospitality career as a Front Desk Agent at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Eureka, California, while studying at Humboldt State University, now Cal Poly Humboldt. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Recreation Administration in 2000. After graduation, she moved to San Diego and served as Assistant Front Office Manager at Embassy Suites by Hilton San Diego Bay Downtown.

She later spent 14 years at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, advancing through leadership roles to become Director of Event Services. There, she developed extensive expertise in operational excellence, high-end corporate events, conferences, and luxury weddings.

Shoemaker subsequently served as Director of Operations at L’Auberge Del Mar before becoming General Manager of La Valencia Hotel in 2019. In November 2023, Noble House Hotels & Resorts appointed her to lead the San Diego Mission Bay Resort.

Beyond hotel operations, Shoemaker serves as Vice Chair of the San Diego Tourism Marketing District Board of Directors, supporting strategic investment in the region’s tourism economy. Her industry contributions have also been recognized as a Pioneer in Tourism & Hospitality category at San Diego Magazine’s Celebrating Women Awards.
